Originally founded in 2013 as Astound Dance Academy, Kimiko Academy of Dance is undergoing many exciting changes under the new ownership of Director, Niki Waltz. Kimiko Academy of Dance has become more than a studio. It’s a home and sanctuary for its young patrons. Beyond teaching excellent technique, Kimiko provides for its dancers a safe place where they can grow in their artistry as they learn the importance of self-worth, responsibility, determination, and sportsmanship.
Kimiko is a home and sanctuary for its young patrons.
The industry of dance education, especially that of highly innovative, excellent technical training is rapidly growing. With the increase in exposure of the arts from social media has come a demand for technical and artistic training in a safe, nourishing environment. Kimiko Academy of Dance is the only studio in Kosciusko County that is staying ahead of the curve and implementing the newest methods and styles of dance in their training and choreography. Kimiko is the only studio in the area currently offering classes in Acrobatic Arts, the newest most cutting edge technique and style in the industry. The facilities are also the most innovative and newly renovated with sprung floors, high density tumbling mats, and professional grade dance flooring. All of these uphold Kimiko’s mission of providing quality training in a safe environment, built for young dancers to protects their growing joints and bodies.
Kimiko’s recreational program includes classes that explore movement and the art and joy of dance as well as offering dance training that implements safe training methods. The competitive, pre-professional program at KAD is offered to students wishing to commit to a higher caliber of technical excellence. These dancers train up to 15 hours a week and have the opportunity to attend local competitions and conventions where they perform Kimiko’s choreography for judges and audiences. These give the students the chance to win scholarships as well as expose their and Kimiko’s names in the professional world of dance.
