We’ve changed our name to Kimiko Academy of Dance!
When I first purchased Astound, I knew wholeheartedly that this was where I was supposed to be. Training, encouraging, and providing a home away from home for your young dancers. We’ve been through many changes over the past year, from the time I was appointed Artistic Director, to the purchase of the studio, our move to a new building, renovations, and now finally our name change. Through this whole experience, I have been affirmed that this studio is about more than dance. This is where we learn about ourselves, our passions, and how to be a kind and courageous teammate and person. These are all things I learned during my time as a student, dancing with Michelle McDonald.
But one person encouraged me to be and do more: Joyce “Kim” Beckman, my aunt and dear friend. She was at every performance, attended conventions and competitions with me, and believed that I was capable of anything. She was a loyal supporter of the local theater, lover of art, dance, and music, and my number one fan. And so we dedicate this studio to the joy and spirit of Joyce, who believed that dance was a gift from God and that anyone could reach their dreams, if they believed in themselves.
