Niki Horikawa
Niki Horikawa is a native to the San Francisco Bay Area. She’s had a passion for dance since childhood and was trained in Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Contemporary dance from an early age. Before college, Niki competed at the Regional and National levels in California. While away at college, she danced with Jackson School of the Art’s Ballet Company for whom she was also an Art and Ballet instructor. Over the past decade, Niki has taught and performed in a variety of different environments including privately owned studios and dance companies, non-profit organizations, after-school programs, private elementary schools, and theatre programs.
Niki is a Module Two certified instructor for The Ballet Method and a certified instructor of the Elemental Body Alignment System, which teaches and reinforces healthy and safe dance technique. In addition to training with Dance Masters of America, Niki is also a Module One Certified Teacher in Acrobatic Arts and The Alixa Flexibility Program. Niki continues to pursue dance education that supports safe and innovative practices and strives to implement them here at Kimiko. Before owning Kimiko, Niki instructed Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary and EBAS at the Academy of American Ballet in Redwood City, CA under Director Julia Ball-Dugan and at Gotta Dance in Half Moon Bay, CA under Director Michelle McDonald.
Niki believes it’s vitally important for each dancer to feel respected and cherished and hopes to help her students grow, not only as dancers but as creators and confident individuals.
